In these increasingly challenging times, knowing how to wear and take care of your N95 mask is more important than ever. Considered one of the most commonly-used, affordable hygiene face masks, an N95 mask can help provide protective benefits when worn correctly.
To learn more about how to use and look after your N95 mask, here’s all you need to know. We also stock affordable N95 (FFP2) valved respirator masks, available in packs of 10 and 20. Eligible for free EU shipping, estimated delivery is just 2-3 working days.
How to Wear an N95 Mask
An N95 mask is a half-mask respirator, designed to cover the nose and mouth. When worn correctly, these masks can help prevent exposure to particles and fluid droplets – particularly from sneezing and coughing.
All N95 masks are equipped with two elastic bands to keep them securely in place. Easy to use, they’re suitable for men, women and children of virtually all ages.
To fit correctly, firmly hold the mask over your nose and mouth. Bring both elasticated headbands over your head, and adjust the position if necessary. Non-bulky and lightweight, an N95 mask is designed to feel comfortable for extended periods of time.
To further increase wearability, our N95 mask packs are valved. The inclusion of a valve helps prevent unwanted moisture building-up, reducing heat and sweat within the mask. Air is also helped to exit the mask quickly when breathing out, further aiding the removal of excess moisture.
How to Look After an N95 Mask
To keep your mask as wearable as possible, handling with care is essential. Be gentle when fitting in place to minimise the risk of damage or tears.
Ideally, an N95 mask should be disposed of after each use. But in times of scarcity, exceptions can be made. Provided your mask isn’t physically damaged or contaminated, and its structure isn’t damaged, it can be reused.
Using hand soap and sanitiser is crucial before and after touching your N95 mask. This includes any form of touch from making position adjustments to removing the mask completely.
Store all used N95 masks between uses in a designated storage area. They can be either hung-up or kept in a breathable container. Ensure all respirator masks do not touch each other, and all storage containers are cleaned regularly.
Any noticeably damaged masks must be securely disposed of immediately. Disposal must also occur if a mask becomes difficult to breathe through properly.
